Fred Jorgensen

From Bull’s Cove on the Burin Peninsula, Fred is one of most unique and recognized singers and performers from across the province.

In his early days as a member of the family-band Fine Tradition, he performed at many festivals and events around the province at the early age of 13 with his parents and family friends, sowing the seeds of a fruitful career in music. Spending a youthful year in the Cape Shore community of St. Bride’s, Fred sharpened his skills on the tin whistle and in 1993 became a founding member of the wildly popular group, Fine Crowd.

Touring extensively across Eastern Canada Fine Crowd recorded two well-respected and award-winning CDs Poverty’s Arse (1995) and Sucker for Good Company (1998). As a studio musician, Fred has lent his tin whistle talents and his unmistakable voice to countless recordings across the province over the decades. In July of 2000, Fred was a founding member of The Navigator’s and along with his good friend Arthur O’Brien has had held together one of the longest musical relationships in the province. When he’s not giving his all in front of an audience, Fred loves to cook, to watch soccer, to take a good stroll around the town, and tend to the garden!
